GI Home Federal Gets Two More Wins Saturday In Hastings

(Hastings, NE) - (GAME 1) - Grand Island Home Federal Bank defeated Norfolk Motor Company 10-1 on Saturday at Duncan Field, thanks in part to eight runs in the seventh inning. Bryson Walker singled, scoring one run; Gavin Ruether drew a walk, scoring one run; Carson Washburn doubled, scoring one run; Grayson Sack drew a walk, scoring one run; Ian Arends drew a walk, scoring one run; Walker singled, scoring two runs, and Ruether singled, scoring one run.

The win vs Norfolk Motor Company was the third time this week that GI has defeated Norfolk after taking a double header on Tuesday in Norfolk. 

Grand Island Home Federal Bank got on the board in the second inning after Adrian O’Brien induced Kingston Loften to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Brock Cushing earned the win for Grand Island Home Federal Bank. The pitcher surrendered three hits and one run over six innings, striking out eight and walking three. O’Brien took the loss for Norfolk Motor Company. The pitcher went five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs (zero earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking two. Arends threw one inning of zero-run ball for Grand Island Home Federal Bank in relief. The southpaw surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking one.

Walker drove the middle of the lineup, leading Grand Island Home Federal Bank with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-5 on the day. (Hastings, NE) - (GAME 2) - Grayson Sack collected three hits in four at-bats, as Grand Island Home Federal Bank defeated Greeley, CO 7-5 on Saturday at Duncan Field. Sack singled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank built a 5-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off Greeley, CO's charge. Greeley, CO closed the gap by scoring on an error, a walk, a single, and a sacrifice fly.

Greeley, CO opened the scoring in the second after Drae Maynes hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Sack singled to center field, Carson Washburn hit a sacrifice fly, and Brock Cushing singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Gabe Ruiz grounded out, and Andrew Winget hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Washburn earned the win for Grand Island Home Federal Bank. The hurler allowed three hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Ethan Martinez took the loss for Greeley, CO. The starter went four and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking five. Gavin Ruether and Bryson Walker each appeared in relief for Grand Island Home Federal Bank.

Miles Nelson, Washburn, Winget, and Sack each drove in one run for Grand Island Home Federal Bank. Ian Arends and Ruether each collected multiple hits for Grand Island Home Federal Bank.
