Visit Kearney Launches The Great 250 Treasure Hunt to Celebrate America 250

Kearney, Neb. – This summer, residents and visitors are invited to experience Kearney and the surrounding area in a whole new way through The Great 250 Treasure Hunt, a community-wide
adventure celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

From June through August, 250 limited-edition handmade glass keepsakes created by the UNK Glass Club will be hidden at attractions and public spaces throughout the area. Participants who discover a keepsake can scan the attached QR code to mark it as found, snap a photo with their treasure, and take it home as a one-of-a-kind commemorative souvenir.

Hosted by Visit Kearney, the program encourages participants to explore local attractions while celebrating the places that make the Kearney area unique.

"The Great 250 Treasure Hunt is designed to inspire exploration and create memorable experiences for families, visitors, and longtime residents alike," said Bobbi Dickerson, Marketing Coordinator for Visit Kearney.

New treasures will be hidden each week throughout the summer at the following locations: The Archway, University of Nebraska at Kearney, Downtown Kearney, Museum of Nebraska Art, Central Nebraska Veterans Memorial, Rowe Sanctuary, Yanney Heritage Park, Cottonmill Park, Kearney Welcome Center, American Automobile Experience, Nebraska Firefighters Museum, Trails & Rails Museum, and Fort Kearny State Historical Park.

Several participating attractions offer a special admission discount when visitors mention The Great 250 Treasure Hunt. Surprise pop-up drops will also be announced throughout the summer, creating even more opportunities to participate.
