Tabitha Nurse Selected for Chicago NCLEX Panel

Jeanne Wilke—MSN, RN and Tabitha Hospice team member—was chosen by the Nebraska State Board of Nursing and National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) for the 2024 National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) item development panel.

A passing score on the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN nursing exams are among the requirements for earning a nursing license in the United States.

In this volunteer role, Wilke—alongside four other members of the prestigious panel, typically selected from across the nation, and from Canada—will assist in the development of 145 potential questions that a candidate may receive during their competence exams.

Selected for her clinical expertise and experience within several nursing specialties, Wilke has also served NCSBN as a volunteer reviewer, writer and panelist for twenty years.

Wilke has provided compassionate care to Nebraskans for over 40 years. Her extensive knowledge spans many sectors of nursing, including geriatrics, home health, hospice, trauma, orthopedics and pediatrics. Additionally, Wilke has performed as an instructor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and online university, Purdue Global.

A Holdredge, Neb. native, her husband Kirk and two sons, Luke and Noah, run Wilke Brothers Farms, also near Holdredge.

“Jeanne is a prime example of the nursing talent in Nebraska—especially at our home-grown nonprofit, Tabitha,” said Karen Cheesman, Administrator, Tabitha Hospice. “It’s an incredible honor and feat to be selected among the top nursing proctors in the nation. Tabitha Hospice is incredibly proud to have her wealth of knowledge, compassionate talents and commitment as a part of our team.”
