Stein Signs With Northern Illinois

Friends, family, and coaches gathered Wednesday, December 20th to congratulate Stein on signing his letter of intent

(Grand Island, NE) - The early national signing day saw one Northwest senior sign his letter of intent. Joesph Stein will join the football program at Northern Illinois. Stein, 6-6 225lbs, committed to the Huskies on June 15th, 2023. While at Northwest Stein was a three-year varsity letter winner. First team all-conference 2023, and named all-state 2023. During his time at Northwest on the gridiron he amassed 50 catches for 676 total yards with 7 touchdowns. This past season Joesph on the defensive side of the ball had 36 total tackles for the Vikings who went 5-5 on the season. 

To the understanding of Northwest Head Coach Kevin Stein and the father of Joseph, this is the first student-athlete to sign with a Division I football school from Northwest High School. 

Northern Illinois is located in DeKalb, IL, is a part of the MAC Conference. This past season the Huskies went 6-6. They will play in an upcoming bowl game on December 23rd vs Arkansas State in the Camellia Bowl in Montgomery Alabama.
