St Paul Girls Basketball Season Comes To An End

(Milford, NE) - The St Paul girls basketball team fell to Cozad on Wednesday night 48-38 in the opening game of the C1-8 sub-district tournament. With just eight players out to play this season for the Wildcats, St Paul would battle but in the end, would run out of gas in the final eight minutes. St Paul would trail by one at the end of the first quarter 7-6 and again be down only one going into the halftime break 16-15.
The Wildcats would get a free throw followed by a two-point bucket to have a quick two-point lead 18-16 with 5:54 left in the third quarter. Later in the third with 3:59 remaining Cozad would then have a 22-20 lead and would remain with the lead the rest of the game. St Paul trailed by four going into the fourth quarter 28-24. The Lead would balloon to 10, 42-32 just before the two-minute mark. St Paul would have it down to eight but could not get it any closer.
The Wildcat season ends with a record of 7-14. Cozad is now 6-18 on the season and advances to play Milford in the C1-8 sub-district semi-final on Thursday, February 20th at 5:00 pm. The second semi-final will be GICC vs Broken Bow at 6:30 pm.
