St. Paul Football Preview

It's a new year with a new class and new opponents for second year Head Coach Cody Wheeler and the St. Paul Wildcats. Last year the Wildcats finished 2-7 under Wheeler in his rookie campaign with wins over O'Neill and Fairbury. Following the enrollment classification by the NSAA, the Cats now shift into a new class moving from C1 to C2. The schedule that comes with it brings a new slate of opponents for the Blue and Gold as they will face just 1 opponent from last years schedule being the Boone Central Cardinals.  The other 8 teams include familiar teams and rivals for the Cats as they shift into the C2-4 District with Boone Central, Centura, Cross County(up from 8 man to 11 man), Grand Island Central Catholic, and Ord. Other non-district opponents include Kearney Catholic, Raymond Central, Amherst, and C1's Broken Bow.

Wheeler returns his entire coaching staff from year 1 to year 2 including Chip Bahe(RB/OLB), Alex Lindsay(OL/DL) and Devin Solko(WR/DB). The Cats add 2 new faces to the staff as Clint Cunningham(OL/ILB) from comes over from GI Senior High after an extended tenure with Jeff Tomlin. Jody Hazen will help coach the defensive line.
