Scottsbluff Comes Back To Defeat GI Pro Team Design, 4-2

(Scottsbluff, NE) - Even though Grand Island Pro Team Design collected three hits to Scottsbluff WESTCO Express's two, they still fell 4-2 on Friday in the first round of the Area 7 Nebraska American Legion juniors tournament at Cleveland Field. Chris Barajas, Holden Arterburn, and Jackson O’hara each collected one hit for Grand Island Pro Team Design.

Grand Island Pro Team Design got on the board in the second inning after O’hara drew a walk, scoring one run after a balk call was made on the Scottsbluff pitcher.

Jed Duque walked, which helped Scottsbluff WESTCO Express tie the game at one in the top of the fourth.

A double by Arterburn gave Grand Island Pro Team Design the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth.

Scottsbluff WESTCO Express took the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Gavin Yung walked, Ryder Ross grounded into a fielder's choice, and Scottsbluff WESTCO Express scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.

Sean Anderson stepped on the hill first for Grand Island Pro Team Design. The pitcher gave up one hit and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking six. Jett Mesa led things off on the bump for Scottsbluff WESTCO Express. The pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking six.

Arterburn went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. O'Hara led Grand Island Pro Team Design with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Grand Island Pro Team Design turned one double play in the game.

Tre Heil and Jordan Groskopf were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Scottsbluff WESTCO Express. Duque, Yung, and Ross each drove in one run for Scottsbluff WESTCO Express. Scottsbluff WESTCO Express had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Auggie Kleager and Yung led the team with two free passes each. Scottsbluff WESTCO Express turned one double play in the game. Scottsbluff WESTCO Express were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Ross made the most plays with five.
