Pillen Chooses Not To Debate In Nebraska Governor Race
One Nebraska Governor Candidate is taking a very unusual path this election cycle by electing not to debate.
Republican nominee Jim Pillen declined another debate last week, following confirmation that the Nebraska State Fair would not be hosting its traditional governor’s debate this year.
Pillen’s campaign has told other media outlets that he will not participate in any debates, following a similar path he took in the primary.
His challenger, Democrat Carol Blood expressed frustration over the news, and in a statement on twitter said “We now live in a state where you can buy your way into office never having to tell voters in a public forum what you stand for, but in the last 45 days what you should vote against. Dark money, negative ads and mean mailers has become the Nebraska way.”
