Northwest Basketball Picks Up Quarter-Final Conference Wins

(Grand Island, NE) - The Northwest basketball teams hosted quarter-final contest on Tuesday, January 28th. The Northwest girls moved to 12-4 with a 54-27 win over Aurora. It was the second time this season that Northwest had defeated the Huskies. Reagan McIntyre led the way with 14 points, Daveigha Heikes with 14 points, and Jolie O'Hara with 11 points. The Northwest girls have now won five in a row. Northwest will take on Seward in the semi-finals on Thursday, January 30th at Adams Central with a tip-off at 7:45 pm. The Northwest boys won another back-and-forth affair defeating Seward 65-59. The win for Northwest was the second of the year over the Bluejays and the Vikings are also on a winning streak now eight in a row. Northwest was led in scoring with Cam Walker scoring 19 points, Brandon Bykyerk with 14 points, and Jaden Brandt with 10 points. The win over Seward puts the Vikings in the semi-finals for the first time since 2020. Northwest (12-4) will take on Aurora on Friday, January 31st at 6:00 pm.
