Mogensen and Jensen Each Drop 22 in 84-70 Win at Georgetown

Washington, D.C. -- Seniors Lauren Jensen and Molly Mogensen combined for 44 points to power Creighton Women's Basketball defeated Georgetown 84-70 on Wednesday, January 29.

The victory lifted Creighton to 17-4 overall and 9-1 in BIG EAST action, while Georgetown fell to 10-11 on the season and 3-7 in conference play.

The first eight Bluejay points came from seniors Mallory Brake (five) and Jayme Horan as Creighton took advantage of the Hoyas' decision to force the ball out of the hands of fellow seniors Morgan Maly and Lauren Jensen.

Leading 17-16 with 1:17 remaining in the opening frame, Jensen struck for a trio of treys as to fuel a 13-2 run stretching from the closed of the first quarter into the first 90 seconds of quarter number two to give Creighton a 30-18 advantage with 8:42 remaining in the half.

The Bluejays' lead grew to as 13 several times in the half, including 45-32, but Georgetown closed the half with five straight to send the squads to the locker room with Creighton holding a 45-37 advantage.

Jensen led Creighton with 14 points in the first half, but the second half belonged to Molly Mogensen. The Minnesota native (Mogensen) delivered eight of the Bluejays' first 13 points in the second half, pushing Creighton out to a 58-39 lead (6:25).

Down by double digits throughout most of the second half, Georgetown closed within seven at 77-70 with 1:06 remaining. Creighton responded with the final seven points of the game to earn a happy flight home.

Jensen and Mogensen led all scorers with 22 points, while Maly and Brake finished with 13 and 12 points respectively. Kelsey Ransom led the Hoyas with 20 points before fouling out in the final minute.

Creighton is back in action on Sunday, February 2nd hosting Providence at 1:00 pm.
