Howard County River Resuce
On July 11, 2024 at around 5:30PM communications received a 911 call about a river rescue with minor details given at the Loup River bridge South of St. Paul. With quick response from Howard County Deputies and officers from the St. Paul Police Department they observed an adult female and minor child holding onto one of the bridge support with the river current trying to take the individuals down river. Law enforcement deputies and officers got to work as they entered the river and grabbed the individuals and were pulled to the sand bank using a ResQdisk that is a rescue device equipped in the St. Paul Police Department patrol vehicles. St. Paul Fire and Rescue we on scene and checked on the individuals involved in the incident.
I would like to take the time to mention that without the quick response from all agencies and departments involved this situation could have been much worse as the current it still strong and the water is deep in areas of the river that this incident happened. Thank you to St. Paul Police Department and St. Paul Fire and Rescue for assisting and ensuring these individuals were helped and in good care during and after the incident.
