GIPD Chief Named Honorary Admiral of Nebraska Navy
Grand Island, Neb. — From being “Chef Denney” for his televised segment “The Business Beat” to being Chief Denney for the Grand Island Police Department, Kevin Denney can now add one extra title to his repertoire – admiral!
Governor Jim Pillen has given the GIPD Police Chief the honorary title of “Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska,” which is the highest civic award given by the governor. Incoming city council member Doug Brown nominated Chief Denney for the designation, and it didn’t take long for the governor to respond.
“What an honor (it is) to be among fellow recipients ‘Dr. J’ Julius Erving, Gene Autry, several presidents and of course Nebraska’s very own Tom Osborne,” Chief Denney said after receiving the honor.
Council member Brown delivered the framed decree to Chief Denney Monday, November 25 at the police station to help commemorate the special honor.
