GI Home Federal Takes Two At Norfolk Tuesday


(Norfolk, NE) - (Game One) - Grand Island Home Federal Bank were victorious against Norfolk Motor Company 9-4 on Tuesday.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank got on the board in the top of the first inning after Norfolk Motor Company committed an error, Gabe Ruiz singled down the left field line, Blake Caspar singled down the left field line, and Brody Davidson singled to left field, each scoring one run.

A double by Caspar, and a ground out by Davidson helped Grand Island Home Federal Bank extend their early lead in the third.

Braedyn Towler earned the win for Grand Island Home Federal Bank. The pitcher gave up four hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Maddox Magnussen took the loss for Norfolk Motor Company. The starter went one inning, allowing four runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking one. Miles Nelson led things off on the hill for Grand Island Home Federal Bank. The starter gave up two hits and four runs (three earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking six.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank tallied 10 hits in the game. Davidson, Brock Cushing, and Caspar each collected two hits for Grand Island Home Federal Bank. (Norfolk, NE) - (Game Two) - Ethan Mader collected three hits in four at bats, as Grand Island Home Federal Bank defeated Norfolk Motor Company 10-2 on Tuesday. Mader singled in the fourth inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the third inning.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank opened the scoring in the first after Blake Caspar doubled, scoring one run.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Caspar walked, and Brody Davidson singled to left field, each scoring one run.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank scored five runs on two hits in the top of the seventh inning. Andrew Winget drew a walk, scoring one run, Carson Washburn was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, a passed ball scored one run, Mader hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Ian Arends doubled, scoring one run.

Gabe Ruiz earned the win for Grand Island Home Federal Bank. The right-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Kaden Lichty took the loss for Norfolk Motor Company. The starter went one inning, allowing one run on one hit, striking out none and walking two. Kingston Loften threw one inning of no-run ball for Grand Island Home Federal Bank in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out none and walking one.
