Creighton’s Trey Alexander Signs Two-Way Contract With Denver Nuggets
BROOKLYN, N.Y.. -- Creighton junior Trey Alexander has signed a two-way contract with the 2023 NBA World Champion Denver Nuggets.
Alexander was a Second Team All-BIG EAST choice as a junior in 2023-24, when he averaged 17.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and a team-high 4.7 assists per game. He finished in the Top 20 in the BIG EAST in minutes (1st), scoring (6th), defensive rebounds (6th), assists per game (7th), assist/turnover ratio (7th), free throw percentage (9th), three-pointers per game (15th), double-doubles (15th) and rebounding (19th). His 37:15 minutes per game ranked sixth nationally and were tops among Power 6 players.
The Oklahoma City product was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 20,2023 and Jan. 29,2024 and had 15 games with 20 or more points during his junior campaign. Named a Preseason All-American by both CBS Sports and 247Sports, Alexander was also on the Preseason Watch List for the Naismith Trophy and the Wooden Award.
Alexander was an Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST selection in 2022-23 for a Bluejay team that reached the Elite Eight, averaging 13.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. He led the BIG EAST by making 43.8 percent of his three-point attempts in league play.
The 6-foot-4 guard started 13 times as a freshman in 2021-22, earning BIG EAST All-Freshman acclaim after averaging 7.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest.
He finished his three-year college career with 1,376 points, 488 rebounds and 347 assists while making 146 three-pointers and a 35.8 percent clip.
Alexander's teammate, Baylor Scheierman, was chosen by the 2024 NBA World Champion Boston Celtics with the final selection of the First Round as the No. 30 overall pick on Wednesday evening.
Coached by Greg McDermott, Creighton finished the 2023-24 season with a 25-10 record, tied for second in the BIG EAST Conference, and reached the program's third Sweet 16 in the last four years.
