Cats pounce on Broncos for 5th win of season

St Paul Softball

A wacky night in Gresham saw a lot of uncharacteristic plays from the St. Paul Wildcats Softball team. Those uncharacteristic plays turned into coachable moments for the Wildcats tonight as they were able to stay red hot on the basepaths after their 27-3 win over Ord on Tuesday following up that performance with a 16-4 win Thursday evening vs Centennial.

The Cats got off to a quick start with Brooke Peetz doubling off to Centerfield scoring Kyndel Sack and Ella Peterson to give the Cats an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The cats added two more runs in the 2nd before Centennial got on the board making it 4-1 through two innings of play. A series of wacky moments in the contest got Centennial back in the ball game momentarily as they tied the game at 4 apiece. They wouldn't score again.

The 4th inning sparked the Cats as they batted through the lineup walking 7 times in the frame bringing 5 runs across to take a 9-4 lead and added 7 runs for insurance to take the 16-4 win.

St. Paul(5-5) has outscored their opponents 43-7 in their last 2 contests. The Cats head to Cozad for their invite tournament where the Cats will square off against Kearney Catholic.

Brooke Peetz takes home Runza MVP of the Game with 2 2Bs and 4 RBIs.
