Cats fall at Columbus Scotus

The St. Paul Wildcat Basketball teams hit the road Tuesday night for a stop in Columbus vs. the Scotus Shamrocks.

The Girls side kicked things off with an exciting first half after finding themselves down 7 the Cats rallied starting with a Charlee Wegner 3 pointer from the left wing to eventually tie the contest at 10. The 2nd frame saw Scotus edge the Cats slightly at a 15-11 advantage with Zaya Lewis hitting a 3 before the horn to cut the Wildcat deficit to 4 before the break with Scotus leading 25-21. The Shamrocks a perfect 8-0 at this point in the season showed why they were undefeated pulling out a full court press the Wildcats couldnt find an answer for. Columbus Scotus used to a 19-4 3rd quarter to run away with the lead and never look back leading 44-25 at the end of 3 before both teams split the 4th quarter with 7 points apiece to round out the scoring at 51-32. 

St. Paul falls to 5-5 on the year while Scotus improves to 9-0. Aubree Fitzgerald takes home Runza MVP for her gameplay in the contest.

The Boys side started off slow with a 4-3 score for the home team before Scotus went on a 14-2 run to close out the first quarter at 18-5. A mix of 3 point shooting and play in the point benefitted Scotus as they picked up right where they left off with a 20-9 2nd quarter to take a 38-14 halftime lead. The 2nd half saw Scotus outscore St, Paul 27-12 enroute to the 65-26 victory. 

The Wildcats now sit at 4-6 while Scotus gets their 6th win of the season at 6-3. Beau Paro earns Runza MVP with 3 3 pointers off the bench.

Tuesday started a small gauntlet for the Basketball teams as they play 4 games in 7 days. The next 3 are at home starting Thursday in vs. Aurora. The games can be heard live on 97-3 the Wolf.
