Buschini Named to Ray Guy Award Watch List
Senior Brian Buschini was one of 34 punters nationally named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Ray Guy Award announced Friday.
The Ray Guy Award is presented annually to the nation’s top collegiate punter in the FBS, and Buschini has made the watch list in each of his three seasons at Nebraska. For his collegiate career, Buschini averages 43.7 yards per punt while placing nearly 35 percent of his career kicks inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.
Buschini has started at punter in each of the last two seasons for the Huskers. Last year, he started all 12 games, averaging 40.7 yards on 57 punts. He placed 35 percent (20-of-57) of his punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line with 19 fair catches, allowing only 19 returns. In his first season at Nebraska, he averaged 44.0 yards per punt, a total that ranked eighth in Husker history and 25th nationally. He had 16 punts of 50 yards or longer, including a 74-yard punt against Wisconsin that ranked as the seventh-longest punt in school history.
Prior to Nebraska, Buschini spent three seasons at Montana from 2019 to 2021. In his final season with the Griz, Buschini was named the 2021 FCS Punter of the Year and a first-team All-American. He averaged 46.0 yards per punt in 2021 and helped Montana lead the FCS in net punting average.
Buschini is working on his master’s degree in construction engineering and management after earning his undergraduate degree from Nebraska in December of 2022.
The 2024 Ray Guy Award winner will be announced during ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 12th.
