Briese Announces New State Spending Website
(Lincoln, NE) Today Nebraska Treasurer Tom Briese invited Nebraskans interested in examining how state dollars are spent to visit the new and improved state spending website at: https://statespending.nebraska.gov/.
The Nebraska State Treasurer is responsible for the receipting and disbursing of all state funds, which includes recording transactions and informing the Legislature through a yearly report on the state's financial state.
StateSpending.Nebraska.gov is a searchable, user-friendly website which allows citizens a simple and straightforward method to see how the State of Nebraska spends and receives funds. This interactive site is designed to allow users to select an item and then continue to examine further spending information or definitions of services provided by a state agency.
"On Nebraska's State Capitol building is the inscription 'The Salvation of the State is the Watchfulness in the Citizen' and I couldn't agree more. Public officials have the duty to show the public how tax dollars are spent and to answer for every cent. This revamped website will allow Nebraskans a quick, easy, and user-friendly way to keep a watchful eye on state spending," Treasurer Briese said.
The website is also available by going to https://treasurer.nebraska.gov/ and clicking on "statespending.nebraska.gov" in the upper right hand corner.
