Accident In Merrick Co Leads To Arrest
Over Labor Day weekend, Deputies in Merrick Co. responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Highway 39 near FF Road.
Preliminary investigation indicated the vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 39 when vehicle crossed the centerline, entering the east ditch and colliding with fence lines, then rolling twice before coming to a rest upright in a tree line.
The occupants of the vehicle than removed the license plates and identifying documents from vehicle before leaving the scene of the property damage accident.
The driver and occupant were located approximately one and half miles south of the accident location when they were believed to be smoking marijuana.
The driver was unable to produce a operator's license and was later identified as 21 year old Nassar Lopez Torres of Tulsa Oklahoma.
Charges are as follows:
-No operators license
-Leaving the scene of a property damaged accident
-Possession of controlled substance
-Possession of marijuana one ounce or less
Lopez-Torres was transported to Merrick County Jail.
